Oksana To Perform at Suncoast AirFest

(St. Petersburg, Florida) On October 9 and 10, the skies over Tampa Bay will come to life with the roars of vintage aircraft and the amazing sight of daring aerobatic maneuvers when the Suncoast AirFest comes to town. This event is the second annual air show hosted by the Albert Whitted Airport Preservation Society. Headlining this year’s program is the AeroShell Aerobatic Team. This masterfully precise, formation-flying team utilizes vintage North American T-6 aircraft. Thousands of American, Canadian and Spanish pilots learned to fly in these high-performance trainers during World War II. The four pilots of the AeroShell Team combine skill and daring, while pushing these powerful 600-horsepower antiques through a series of technically difficult and exciting maneuvers.

Nationally renowned air show pilots, Fred Cabanas, Jim “Fang” Maroney, Bud Walker, John Mohr, Steve Coan and John Black will round out the performers for this two-day, action-packed event. In addition to the planes in the air, there will be a variety of historic, vintage and experimental aircraft on display, as well as a host of classic cars. Youngsters will have plenty to do in the Kid’s Zone, and they’ll also have a chance to sit behind the controls of a real airplane and several types of simulators at the Young Eagle’s Flight Experience. Live music and a wide variety of food and beverage vendors allow the show to offer something for just about everyone.

Among the featured musicians, a favorite entertainer by the U.S. Armed Forces and a Tampa Bay resident, internationally acclaimed pianist and composer Oksana Kolesnikova, who recently toured military installations throughout Europe and Asia.

An aircraft aficionado herself, Kolesnikova will perform her trademark acrobatics on the ivories for the pilots of the AeroShell Aerobatic Team.

Gates for the air show will open both days at 9 a.m. Aerobatic performances will begin at noon on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets for Adults are $10.00 in advance, $12.00 day of show. Children 6 to 12 are $5.00 and kids under six are free. Tickets can be purchased online at www.suncoastairfest.com or at Bay Air Flying Service at the airport. The airport is located just off the I-175 exit on the downtown waterfront. For more information call 727-822-1532.
