Piano Sensation OKSANA Relocates to Pasco
PORT RICHEY, Nov 11 -- Russian-born pianist and composer Oksana Kolesnikova has made Pasco County her new home.
A child prodigy who won her first piano competition at age nine, Kolesnikova, in her mid-twenties and a soon-to-be U.S. citizen, is already a legend in Europe and Asia where she recently performed for the U.S. Troops stationed there.
The young musician created a name for herself for the ability of delivering a wide spectrum of musical genres, from challenging classical masterpieces to classic rock, smooth jazz and even hip-hop, often as clever arrangements of her original works for piano solo.
Often dubbed 'the female version of Liberace', Kolesnikova mesmerizes three generations of music lovers with her trademark pianistic virtuosity, a memorized repertoire of over six hours and a warm, affable personality that wins over men and women of all ages and backgrounds.
A St. Petersburg College and FSU graduate, Oksana studied classical piano for 17 years before finding contemporary American music - and composing - her main new passions, along with entertaining the U.S. military deployed overseas.
Out of gratitude, Kolesnikova has pledged to donate her time and talent to Pasco churches of all denominations while residing there, schedule allowing. "It was inside an American church when I first moved to the U.S. that I realized that my mission in life was to be a full time musician, rather than one in an unrelated field, as even my relatives were suggesting. I was desperate and undecided on which way to go, and while I was praying asking for a sign from the Above, the church pianist started to play one of my favorite classical pieces. That's when I knew beyond any doubt that my future was in music."
Oksana will perform at the WDUV 105.5 FM "S.A.S.S.Y. event at Gulfview Square Mall on Saturday, November 16, 12pm and again on Friday, and at Buffalo Wild Wings November 19, 5:30pm. Free to the public.
Kolesnikova will continue making herself available at select local venues when not traveling overseas in concert.
